VILGENIY MELNIKOV«Venus Sleeping» (2022)
Cold-rolled steel with chemical treatment; hydroforming.
Life-size sculpture in sheet metal with torn form achieved through the artist’s experimental method. Based on Lucian Freud’s “Benefits Supervisor Sleeping” and the British London School. The first full-scale work in Melnikov’s series of over 20 “inflated Venuses.” Nominated for the Moscow Art Prize 2023 (exhibited at Zaryadye Media Center).
